Kutjevo Winery Triumphs Again at Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2023

In the German town of Neustadt, at the end of August and the beginning of September, the internationally renowned Mundus Vini Summer Tasting wine competition took place. Various wines from 36 countries around the world were awarded Mundus Vini recognitions, totaling 1,676 awards. Almost 140 international wine experts attended the four-day tasting event, and the number of products receiving awards was limited to 40% of the samples with the highest ratings in their category.

The summer tasting concluded on Sunday, September 3rd, and Kutjevo Winery emerged as a multiple winner. By winning the prestigious Grand Gold medal, which is only awarded to the best wines, for their outstanding 2018 Graševina Ice Harvest, they demonstrated their consistency in producing top-quality wines in Croatia and beyond.

This prestigious title placed the mentioned bottle on the throne of predicate category wines among strong competition from the world’s best wines. In addition to this medal, it also earned gold at Decanter, as well as another Grand Gold at Mundus Vini Spring Tasting 2023, confirming its status as the most-awarded wine in the history of Kutjevo Winery. It’s important to note that there are few vineyards where favorable macro and micro conditions allow for the production of ice wine. After the regular harvest, the grapes left on the vine go through all the weather cycles and are susceptible to various diseases, birds, and wild animals seeking food, resulting in a yield up to ten times smaller than a regular harvest. Therefore, achieving such significant recognition is extremely difficult, and Kutjevo Winery succeeds in this thanks to diligent winemakers who care for each grape, cellar workers who ensure proper storage, and oenologists who oversee every step in creating this true “nectar of the gods.”

In addition to the above, gold was also awarded to the single-vineyard Graševina Vinkomir, a new bottle from the mentioned winery, with a striking golden-yellow color, a seductive appearance, and an impressive label reflecting the unique style of the Kutjevo terroir, which, among other things, receives its first major international recognition.

The 2023 Decanter gold winner Vrhunska Graševina 2022 confirmed its potentally once again,by winning gold at this internationa competition, along with Graševina de Gotho 2020 and Maximo Nero 2019, both winning silver.

Finally, it is important to highlight Graševina as the variety that has always been the trademark of Kutjevo Winery. The gold medal for all three highlighted Graševina wines showcases the exceptional characteristics of this magnificent variety in various styles, and you can find and order these distinguished wines through the following link: https://www.kutjevo.com/webshop or in specialized stores.
